Fractures and Casting

Physio Health Clinic’s primary physiotherapist, Andrew is experienced in treating bone breakages.

He can assist you throughout the management of your fracture, at the time of diagnosis, treatment, and all the way through to rehabilitation and recovery.

He is qualified to send you for an x-ray to check for evidence of a fracture, can apply an appropriate cast, splint, or brace, and will provide you with walking aids such as crutches and instruct you in their correct use, if required.

He will also advise you on how to reduce your swelling and care for your cast, splint, or brace, give you exercises to prevent other joints from becoming stiff, and educate you on how to alleviate any increases in pain, swelling, throbbing, or pins and needles that may develop.

While your fracture or break is healing Andrew may adjust or change your cast or splint as required and monitor how you are managing your injury and exercises. When it is time for removing your cast or brace, he can give you tailored exercises and advice on what to expect in this early stage of rehabilitation and remove the cast in the clinic with a casting saw.

As you improve, he will progress your exercises to help a full recovery, and ensure you return to pre-injury mobility as soon as possible.
